I still remember the first time I watched Ms. Kara David’s I-witness episode back in 2014; although I did not understand the documentary’s whole story, I felt the empathy and rawness of how she reported the life and reality of the minority area. She was my wake-up call in journalism because she made me realize the importance of story-telling and immersion of oneself to provide real and true stories that will touch the audience’s heart. Before, I only perceived the broadcasting world as merely reporting. But, because of I-witness, I had an awareness of the importance of creating stories that will mirror reality, and for me, that is the essence of reporting. Her story-telling techniques take me to her journey to learn and document her experiences, which I admire about her. She is fears and confident; she takes pride in her work and sees it as her passion in life, and it clearly shows because of how she resonated her energy to me as her young audience.
